Description
The role is that of a full-time adult Cardiac Surgeon that will join the Calgary Cardiac Surgery Group and the University of Calgary as a clinical assistant professor to contribute to all aspects of the work schedule including proportional OR time, clinics, ward duties and the consulting service. On call responsibilities will be distributed proportionally with the group. The individual should have successfully completed her/his cardiac surgery residency training with Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons certification. Furthermore, the individual should have extra sub specialization training in Mechanical Circulatory Support and Heart Failure, specifically in intermediate minimal access ventricular assist devices including Impella 5.5 and Protek Duo for peripheral biventricular support. Additional training and experience with transcatheter valvular intervention would be beneficial and advantageous. The cardiac Surgeon will also contribute to the teaching and academic mandate of the Section of Cardiac Surgery with the teaching of medical students; as well as the residents in the RCPSC-approved Cardiac Surgery Training Program.
