Description
The MercyOne Des Moines General Surgery Residency Program has an opening for a categorical PGY-4 resident to begin July 1, 2026. We are a small to medium-sized program with four categorical residents per year, with no preliminary residents and no surgical fellows, which allows our residents robust operative exposure at each level of training. Please note, we are only able to sponsor J-1 visas at this time.

Requirements
Applicants must have completed three years of an ACGME accredited surgical residency program in the United States and be in good standing.

- Current Curriculum Vitae (CV)
- Brief Personal Statement
- Medical School diploma and transcript
- Dean's Letter (MSPE)
- USMLE and/or COMLEX Steps 1, 2, and 3 reports
- Three (3) Letters of Recommendation, one of which must be from current Program Director
- Rotation schedule from PGY-1, -2, and -3
- Current ACGME case logs
- ACGME Milestone summaries from PGY-1, -2, and -3
- All ABSITE scores from PGY-1, -2, and -3
- Current ATLS, BLS, ACLS certifications
- ECFMG Certificate if applicable
