Description
The General Surgery Residency Program at Staten Island University Hospital has a PGY2 Preliminary position availalble beginning July 1, 2026.
N.B. Our program will sponsor J1 visas only
Requirements
PREREQUISITES
You must currently be enrolled in a PGY1 preliminary position for the 2025-2026 academic year in an ACGME accredited general surgery residency training program in good standing (or successful completion in good standing of ONE year of US clinical training in an ACGME accredited general surgery residency training program).
Must have graduated from an Accredited Medical School or International Medical Graduates must have a valid ECFMG certificate.

- Three (3) current Letters of Recommendation. One of the three letters must be from the current Program Director.
- Rotation schedule with Competency-Based Evaluations for ALL completed rotations
- Current year semi-annual Evaluation
- Current ACGME “General Surgery Defined Category and Minimum” and “General Surgery Year 2 Minimum” case log reports
- ACLS, BLS and ATLS certification
- Copy of ECFMG
