PGY-2 Preliminary Position – General Surgery

The University of Illinois Chicago General Surgery Residency is recruiting a Preliminary PGY-2 position for the academic year 2026-2027. Start date: June 24, 2026. Orientation begins June 15, 2026. Application deadline: April 8, 2026. 

Requirements of Categorical Residency Applicants: 

        Completion or in-progress PGY-1 in an accredited ACGME general surgery training program that is in good standing by June 23, 2026

        ABSITE score reports from residency training years

        USMLE official transcripts

        Three letters of recommendation, including one from your current program director.

        Updated CV

        Medical school diploma

        Medical school transcript

        Updated ACGME operative case log report

        Proof of US citizenship, permanent visa or valid current J-1 visa. We do not sponsor H1b Visa.

        (optional) FLS certificate, FES certificate

        Explanation of remediation or probationary periods

        List of EPA’s
