Description

The General Surgery Program at Stony Brook Medicine has 3 openings for PGY-2 preliminary residents to start on July 1, 2026, for the 2026-27 academic year.   All applicants must have completed a first year of training in good academic standing with an ACGME accredited program with successful completion of Step 1 and Step 2 USMLE/COMLEX examinations by 2nd attempt.  International medical graduates must have a current valid certificate from the Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates (ECFMG). We only accept J-1 Visas sponsored by ECFMG.
