Piedmont Augusta is currently hiring a Surgical Oncologist to support our rapidly growing and evolving Oncology program at our Augusta, GA campus. We seek an individual with special interest and experience in diseases of breast, thyroid, parathyroid, skin and soft tissue. This opportunity will allow the candidate to join an established surgical oncology practice and work with the team leading cancer care in the region. The role requires a physician who is highly skilled with extensive training to perform complex surgical procedures, collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams, and provide compassionate care to patients and their families.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
• Responsible for diagnosing, treating and managing cancer patients through surgical intervention.
• Perform complex surgical procedures to remove tumors and affected tissue.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to develop comprehensive treatment plans.
• Perform hospital rounds on inpatients to include surgical floor and intensive care units
• Provide postoperative care, monitor patient recovery, and manage complications.
• Maintain accurate patient records and comply with hospital policy.
• Perform H&Ps, consults, and write progress notes on inpatients
• Educate patient and families about diagnoses, treatments, and expected outcomes.
• Participate in appropriate tumor boards and research opportunities.
• Communicate patient condition changes to physician colleagues in order to coordinate care based on best practice.
• Available to answer emergent calls for inpatient and outpatient concerns.
