The Rady Children’s Health Orange County (formerly CHOC Children’s) Division of Pediatric General and Thoracic Surgery seeks a BC pediatric surgeon with demonstrated leadership in pediatric trauma to join an established group of 11 surgeons. Our practice provides a full range of pediatric surgical care to patients in Orange County and throughout Southern California. The candidate must have a strong clinical interest in broad pediatric surgical care with special interest in trauma. Board Certification in Critical Care is preferred.
The ideal candidate will have a track record of academic contributions in pediatric trauma commensurate with the Associate or Professor level and be able to take over as Trauma Medical Director within a short period of time.
As an academic group within a free-standing children’s hospital, the Division provides services at Rady Children’s Health Orange and Mission Viejo campuses as well as the University of California at Irvine and a community hospital. Qualified candidates are eligible for academic appointments through the University of California at Irvine. The Division maintains an active research effort with extensive support and multiple publications and presentations.
Rady Children’s Health Orange County (RCHOC) is a 334-bed hospital now part of Rady Children’s Health, one of the largest pediatric healthcare systems in the country. RCHOC is an ACS Verified Pediatric Level 1 Trauma Center and an ACS Level 1 Children’s Surgery Center. It has a 72-bed Level IV NICU, a 30 bed PICU, and a Special Delivery Unit for advanced fetal care. The Division supports an ACGME-accredited Pediatric Surgical fellowship while the institution hosts multiple training programs across specialties in conjunction with the University of California at Irvine.

Proven leadership track record
Demonstrated experience and interest in pediatric trauma
Surgical critical care training is ideal, but not required
Well-established research background
Ability to liaise effectively with all hospital coworkers, from security to hospital administrators
